Events

The following events are planned in 2026:

• Wednesday 25 March: AGM at the Church, 7.00pm. Come and collect your ‘potato in a bucket‘ and sunflower seeds for the Annual show, enjoy a glass of wine and our raffle. Membership fees of £3 due too.
• Friday 24 April: Annual Meal at the Calver Arms: We would like to thank everyone who joined us at our annual meal. The food was piping hot when served and there was plenty of it, the pies being individually made in The Barrel in Bretton were delicious and completely full to the brim.  Prizes were won and people went home with arms full of goodies and smiles on their faces.
• July 2 – Garden visit to Chatsworth. We will have a guided tour and talk for an hour, which has to be paid for in addition to the entry price to the main gardens and also includes parking for your cars.  You will be free and able to use the garden entry from 10.30am and attend the tour which we are hoping to organise for 2pm and then will be free to stay in the gardens until closing time.  
  • The price for all above will be subsidised for Hortisoc members to £25 per person.  Non-members are welcome to join us but their price will be £30 which is also a slight discount from the Chatsworth price of £31.36 if bought individually from them.
• Saturday 12 September – Annual Village Show with entries night on Wednesday 9 September. Please note this is NOT the first Saturday in September as usual, we had to move it as the Hall was already booked.

Visit to Hope Valley Vineyard 2023

We all enjoyed the visit to the Hope Valley Vineyard in Hathersage, where we learnt about growing vines high up in the Peak District! We sampled the excellent white, red and sparkling wines as well as an excellent buffet. Thanks to all at Hope Valley for hosting us.
